Car Rental Price in Nice: Rates & Hidden Costs

In short. The car rental price in Nice varies depending on the duration and model chosen. At AzurDrive, rates start at 60 euros per day for a short-term convertible model and adjust for weekly or monthly rentals. This guide is intended for drivers aged at least 25 with a category B driving licence held for three years, who want to plan their budget on the French Riviera with fully insured vehicles.

Preparing your transport budget on the French Riviera requires close attention to the pricing conditions applied by agencies. The cost of a car rental in Nice depends directly on the number of days booked and the selected vehicle category. Understanding these mechanisms helps you avoid financial surprises when picking up the vehicle and optimises your expenses.

What makes up the car rental price in Nice?

The overall price of a rental is based on the daily rate applied according to the duration, combined with mandatory fees such as the 800 euros security deposit requested when handing over the keys. Agencies generally offer decreasing daily rates as the booking duration increases. This structure helps reduce the unit cost for longer stays while covering the basic insurance included across the entire vehicle fleet.

To properly evaluate the total cost, you must factor in the 750 euros excess, which represents the maximum amount remaining payable by the driver in the event of an at-fault accident. Transparency regarding these amounts ensures smooth management of your budget during your stay in Nice. Each model has its own pricing grid, which we break down to help you make your choice.

What are our rates according to the booking duration?

Our pricing grid adapts to every traveller’s needs through three duration tiers: from one to three days, starting from seven days, or for a full month. Daily rates decrease significantly over a week, while the monthly package offers an advantageous overall rate for extended stays. At AzurDrive, we provide key handover directly in Nice or delivery to the address of your choice, whether at your hotel or the airport.

What is the impact of the deposit and the excess on the budget?

The security deposit and the excess are key financial elements to anticipate when signing your rental agreement. The 800 euros deposit is required as a guarantee when the vehicle keys are handed over. It is refunded after the return inspection if the car shows no uncovered damage.

Additionally, the 750 euros excess corresponds to the financial threshold in the event of material damage occurring during the rental period. These amounts apply identically across our entire fleet, whether you choose a compact model or a spacious SUV. It is therefore recommended to factor this financial reserve into your overall calculation before departure.

How to calculate your budget with our precise rates?

To concretely estimate the cost of your rental, simply multiply the applicable daily rate by the desired number of days, then add the deposit conditions. Let’s take the example of renting a 2012 Audi A6 C7 Quattro for a duration of two days. The rate is 90 euros per day, bringing the total rental amount to 180 euros, to which the temporarily blocked 800 euros deposit is added.

If you choose the same vehicle for a duration of seven days, the rate drops to 50 euros per day, totalling 350 euros for the week. For a full month, the flat rate is set at 1200 euros. This sliding scale applies across all our available vehicle categories.

What conditions must be met to rent?

Access to renting our vehicles is subject to strict criteria regarding age and driving experience to ensure everyone’s safety. The driver must be at least 25 years old and have held a category B driving licence for at least three years. These conditions are checked when presenting official documents at the time of key handover.

Regarding logistics, our cancellation policy allows free cancellation up to seven days before the start of the rental. After this period, fees apply amounting to 50 percent of the total rental amount. This flexibility makes it easy to adapt to unforeseen circumstances while securing your chosen vehicle booking.

When is this choice not suitable?

Renting a tourism or prestige vehicle does not suit every type of traveller or every type of urban journey. If you are under 25 or have held your driving licence for less than three years, our services cannot be provided to you. Alternatives then include using local public transport or coastal train services.

Furthermore, for an exclusively urban stay in the heart of Nice without travelling outside the city, a car often presents a financial and parking constraint. Travellers who do not plan on taking trips along the French Riviera will find little value in renting a vehicle for the duration of their stay. In this case, opting for walking or the bus and tram networks remains a more suitable option.

What documents must be presented during key handover?

The driver must present a valid ID as well as their driving licence meeting the required seniority criteria. A bank card in the name of the main driver is also necessary for the 800 euros security deposit.

Can you modify or cancel your booking free of charge?

Cancellation is entirely free if made up to seven days before the scheduled departure date. If cancellation occurs less than seven days before picking up the vehicle, fees equivalent to 50 percent of the total rental amount will apply.

Is vehicle delivery possible outside the agency?

We offer a vehicle delivery service directly to the address of your choice, whether at your hotel or the airport, in addition to standard key handover in Nice. All our cars are insured to guarantee you a completely stress-free journey.
